Talking About

The TALKING ABOUT category includes articles that provide the underpinnings for many of the articles to be found on the Practical Perception website. For example, certain articles in the Seeing/Hearing/Perceiving sections may make more sense if one understands the units of measurement for described phenomena (e.g., wavelength of light, sound levels in decibels, and so forth). Some articles will also serve as simplified reminders of basic mathematical ideas (e.g., logarithms and angular vs linear measures). It is, of course, quite possible that many readers can skip these refresher materials; they are after all meant to be basic. Alternatively, articles here may also serve as reference material, if one later finds a particular topic to be difficult or confusing.
