Summary: Another of the size-distance illusions can produce an almost frightening experience – certainly a surprising one! Under the right conditions, an animal as small as an ordinary squirrel can appear to be the size of large dog. Although careful observation will usually reveal the basis for the error, the initial percept is dramatic enough to give one pause.
