Depth & Distance
Articles categorized under Depth & Distance will describe the sorts of visual (or auditory) information ("cues") available in a typical scene, or an article might tie together cues that initially seem to be independent. Some visual information that creates a sense of depth/distance depends upon the existence of two eyes. Such information is usually labeled as binocular or stereoscopic information. Other visual information is available even if an observer is using just one eye; such information is generally called monocular information. Some information reaches us from the external world; other information depends upon the functioning of our own visual systems. Another article under Fundamentals might consider whether all information is weighted equally in determining spatial percepts (i.e., the "Adjacency Principle"). Other articles might consider how we obtain a sense of scale for perceptions of our environment.
